Around 60 flights to and from Cyprus were canceled on Monday, 2 March 2026, due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, according to Hermes Airports, which manages the island’s airports.
The cancellations affect 42 flights at Larnaca International Airport and 18 flights at Paphos International Airport. Airlines impacted include Cyprus Airways, Wizz Air, Sky Express, and Aegean Airlines on routes to the Middle East. The Lufthansa Group also proactively canceled its flights from Cyprus for the day, including services to Munich, Vienna, and Zurich, citing current developments in the region and security restrictions.
According to “K” sources, Cyprus’ Civil Aviation Department has been tasked with investigating why Lufthansa suspended its flights, following instructions from the Ministry of Transport. Based on estimates, roughly 5,000 passengers could be affected, assuming each flight carries 80–90 travelers.
