Marriott International has announced the signing of nine hotel deals in Greece, adding nearly 1,000 rooms and introducing two new brands to the market: Residence Inn by Marriott and Le Méridien.
The signings, announced on 2 April 2026, reinforce Marriott's commitment to Greece, where it currently operates 47 properties with over 6,000 rooms across 10 brands and 12 markets.
“As one of the world’s most desirable leisure destinations, Greece continues to offer significant opportunities for Marriott to expand its footprint across its islands, coastal regions, and urban centres,” said Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International. “These new signings reflect the strong confidence owners and franchisees place in Marriott and underscore the sustained demand for our diverse and inspiring portfolio of brands in the Greek market.”
Key signings include:
- Residence Inn by Marriott Athens (57 rooms) – catering to longer-stay demand in the city centre.
- Le Méridien Sissi Crete (229 rooms) – expected to open in 2027, bringing the brand’s European positioning to Crete.
- Milatos Marriott Resort Crete (314 rooms) – anticipated to open in 2028 on the northern coast.
- The Tenant, Heraklion Crete, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (40 rooms) – slated to open in 2026.
- Orosea, Paros, Autograph Collection (40 rooms) – joining the brand’s independent hotel collection in 2026.
- Hymnos, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Zakynthos (94 rooms) – located on Bouka Beach, opening in 2026.
In 2025, Marriott signed and opened two Design Hotels properties: Tella Thera (20 rooms) and Stamna Sifnos (20 rooms). The company also signed the 41-key Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels in Milos, which opened in 2026.
Greece now hosts 10 Marriott Bonvoy brands: The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, JW Marriott (luxury); Marriott Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Tribute Portfolio, Autograph Collection, Design Hotels (premium); and Moxy Hotels (select service).
Why it matters
The nine signings deepen Marriott’s presence in Greece’s key leisure and urban markets, particularly Crete and Athens. The introduction of Residence Inn signals growing demand for extended-stay accommodation in the capital, while Le Méridien’s debut adds a culture-focused option. The deals also strengthen Marriott’s luxury pipeline with the Zakynthos resort and expand its lifestyle portfolio via Autograph Collection and Design Hotels. For travel trade partners, the expanded inventory offers more brand-diverse booking options across price segments and island destinations.
