Marriott International has announced the signing of nine hotel deals in Greece, adding nearly 1,000 rooms to its pipeline. The agreements, disclosed on 2 April 2026, include the market entry of two brands: Residence Inn by Marriott and Le Méridien.
The signings reinforce Marriott's commitment to Greece, where it currently operates 47 properties with over 6,000 rooms across 10 brands and 12 markets. Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa, said the country offers significant opportunities for expansion across its islands, coastal regions, and urban centres.
Key projects include the 57-room Residence Inn by Marriott Athens, catering to growing demand for longer-stay accommodation in the capital. The 229-room Le Méridien Sissi Crete is expected to open in 2027, bringing the brand's European-inspired positioning to the Cretan coast. Also in Crete, the 314-room Milatos Marriott Resort Crete is anticipated to open in 2028.
In Paros, the 40-room Orosea, Paros, Autograph Collection is slated to open in 2026. The 40-room The Tenant, Heraklion Crete, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is also expected to debut in 2026. On Zakynthos, the 94-room Hymnos, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, is scheduled to open in 2026.
Marriott also signed and opened two Design Hotels properties in 2025: the 20-room Tella Thera and the 20-room Stamna Sifnos. Additionally, the 41-key Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels in Milos, is expected to open later in 2026.
Greece currently hosts 10 Marriott Bonvoy brands: The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Tribute Portfolio, Autograph Collection, Design Hotels, and Moxy Hotels.
Why it matters
The nine signings signal sustained owner confidence in Marriott's brand portfolio within a key Mediterranean leisure market. The addition of Residence Inn by Marriott addresses a gap in extended-stay supply in Athens, while Le Méridien's debut on Crete strengthens the company's presence in the premium lifestyle segment. The projects also deepen Marriott's footprint on popular islands such as Paros, Zakynthos, and Milos, diversifying its offering beyond the established resort hubs. For travel buyers and intermediaries, the expanded inventory provides more options across price points and stay types, from luxury resorts to select-service and extended-stay properties.
