Accor, the world-leading hospitality group, and Trust Contracting and Real Estate Investment Company have signed an agreement to develop ibis North Coast Sidi Kerir in Egypt. The 200-key hotel is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2029 and will occupy a prime seafront location in Sidi Kerir, approximately 40 minutes west of Alexandria.
The property will benefit from direct access via the Alexandria–Marsa Matrouh International Coastal Road, proximity to Borg El Arab International Airport, and connectivity to Cairo, New Alamein and Marsa Matrouh. Facilities include a 600-square-metre ballroom, six meeting rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a fitness centre and a swimming pool.
The signing marks another milestone in Accor's expansion in Egypt and reinforces the group's growth strategy across the Middle East and North Africa. The ibis brand, present since 1974, targets wallet-wise travellers seeking affordable, reliable accommodation.
Raki Phillips, Regional President, Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, Middle East, Africa & Türkiye at Accor, said: "The North Coast represents one of Egypt's most compelling long-term hospitality opportunities. As infrastructure investments and integrated mixed-use developments continue to reshape the region, demand is becoming highly diversified across leisure, residential and corporate segments."
Samir Fawzi, Chairman of Trust Contracting and Real Estate Investment Company, commented: "At Trust Contracting, our investment in the next phase of Egypt's North Coast transformation is built on recognising opportunities beyond luxury. By partnering with Accor to introduce the globally renowned ibis brand, we are delivering high-quality, internationally branded economy hospitality to Sidi Kerir."
Accor's existing North Coast portfolio includes Rixos Premium Alamein (over 1,300 keys), and a pipeline featuring Swissôtel Ras El Hekma & Swissôtel Residences Ras El Hekma (250 rooms and 100 branded residences) and Novotel Sidi Abdel Rahman (240 keys).
Why it matters
The ibis signing underscores the North Coast's shift from a seasonal summer destination to a year-round hospitality market, driven by large-scale developments such as Ras El Hekma, Marassi and New Alamein. By introducing an economy brand in Sidi Kerir, Accor is targeting an underserved segment between luxury resorts and Alexandria, potentially broadening the region's visitor base. The 2029 opening aligns with long-term infrastructure improvements and Egypt's Vision 2030 tourism goals, though the extended timeline reflects the project's early stage.
